The East Coast Railway has opened an exciting opportunity for Indian nationals who are active members of the Bharat Scouts & Guides. Applications are invited for recruitment against the Scouts & Guides Quota for the year 2024-25. Vacancy Details
There are 8 vacancies in total, divided as follows:
- Group-C (Level-2): 2 posts (Grade Pay ₹ 1900/-)
- Erstwhile Gr.D (Level-1): 6 posts (Grade Pay ₹ 1800/-)
Candidates can apply for both categories (Group-C and Level-1) but must submit separate applications in separate envelopes for each post. The selection process and examinations will also be conducted separately for the two categories.
Reservation
These vacancies are open to all candidates. However, SC/ST/OBC candidates will enjoy age relaxation benefits if they qualify for the reserved category quota.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Scouting/Guiding Qualifications
To apply, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:
- Must be a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger OR hold a Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section.
- Should have been an active member of a Scouts organization for at least five years. The certificate of activeness should follow the prescribed format.
- Must have attended two National-level OR All Indian Railways-level events and two State-level events.
2. Educational Qualifications

Candidates awaiting final examination results are not eligible to apply.
3. Age Limit
The age limits (as of July 1, 2025) are as follows:
- Group-C (Level-2): 18 to 30 years
- Level-1 (Erstwhile Gr.D): 18 to 33 years
Relaxations in upper age limits are applicable as per government norms:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
- Persons with Disabilities: 10-15 years (depending on category)
- Ex-servicemen: Relaxation equivalent to service rendered plus 3 years
- Women (widowed, divorced, or judicially separated and not remarried): Relaxation up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), and 45 years (SC/ST).

Application Process
Eligible candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format along with the required documents.
Application Fee
- General Candidates: ₹ 500 (₹ 400 refundable for candidates appearing in the written examination)
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWD/Women/Minorities/Economic Backward Classes: ₹ 250 (fully refundable for candidates appearing in the written examination)
Payment Method: The fee must be submitted via Demand Draft/Pay Order from a nationalized bank or a crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in favor of the concerned authority as mentioned in the detailed notification.
